South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Sign-Up to the Shared Strategic Procurement Platform

South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service is the latest organisation to sign-up to the Yorkshire & Humber shared strategic procurement platform from PROACTIS.

The shared service, referred to as the Supplier and Contract Management System (SCMS), is already being used by 22 local authorities in the Yorkshire & Humber region to obtain 'best value' through improved sourcing, tendering, contract and supplier management activities. Together, these councils represent a combined annual spend of approximately £1.25billion, with 29,000 registered suppliers and nearly £2.5billion in active contracts.

SCMS from PROACTIS will provide South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service with efficiency savings, consistency of process and enable them to collaborate better on contracts and share best practices. Furthermore, as members of the SCMS now undertake a common approach to procurement, there is more incentive for regional suppliers to pursue public sector business in the region.
